Gender Binary in My American Government Textbook

Gaahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I just need to vent about the stupid gender binary and how insidious it is! I can't even get through my gov homework without it staring me in the face. It's so ingrained in our culture and I'm sick and tired of it.
